FRANK & HIRSCH

After leaving university, I joined a national distributing company called Frank & Hirsch. It was one of the most respected distributors in South Africa, carrying such lines as TDK tapes; Nikon and Polaroid photographic equipment; Citizen, Omega, Adec watches; Polaroid sunglasses; Braun electronic goods, Aiwa and JVC electronics and Atari computers and game stations. I'm sure there were many more products we used to sell, but just can't remember them right now...

We were a team of around 100 salespeople and double that number of back office and warehouse staff to keep the wheels turning for us. In Cape town, we were a team of about 8 salespeople who all formed a tight-knit friendship with each other, many of which are still enjoyed to this day!

In order to penetrate the national market, besides driving to the nearby towns from the main centers of Cape Town and Durban where F&H had branches, we had at our disposal a Citation II jet airplane piloted by our respected ace, Nola Kropman to get us to the outlying towns. Here follows a few pictures of our time with F&H.
